A LAST JUDGEMENT

His memory’s first
clouds denied him salvation,
louring over flames
and massed swathes of fugitives.

The panorama
left no space within the frame
for shelter. Terror
spread wide beyond the gilding.

He would never read
the legend, always rushing
past into futures
where clouds stilled his thoughts in dread.
