Thank you Laurence and Ginnie. And Ginnie, you have the right idea, I don’t advocate or recommend
going out in thunderstorms, and especially not loitering around a metal or graphite tripod. Just don’t.

Paul, your pics are always amazing. This one certainly fits in that category. I always hide indoors when the weather gets like this.
    Please keep ’em comin’.
    Thanks,
    Ginnie

This is certainly some dramatic photo, Paul. You sure get some damn awesome weather in your “neck of the woods”, so to speak. I have not seen forked lighting for ages.

I think the lightning bolt on the RHS of the photo is akin to a pterodactyl creature running fast away from the lighting forks on the LHS – maybe a bit too hot for it or sensing its tail maybe be torched!

Grand stuff from you, as ever. Many thanks.

    Laurence

From what is visible in this mysterious photograph, it appears to be a unique Stratocumulus formation that produced a type of linear convergence across the sky over Upstate New York, US. Without a 360 view, it is not entirely clear as to what may have 'precipitated' it.
